Mini-Workshop
As a parent, it can be overwhelming when your child shares that they are a part of the LGBTQ+ community —especially when you’re trying to align your love for them with your personal and spiritual beliefs. Christian parents often question how they can support
their child without compromising their faith.

This 2.5-hour class is a judgment-free, faith-informed space where Christian parents can learn how to support their children without compromising their heart or faith. The program fosters understanding and equips parents with the tools to navigate their emotions, foster deeper connections with their children, and create an environment of unconditional love. Through open discussion and practical strategies, parents will learn to balance personal, cultural, and spiritual beliefs with the need to support their child as they engage in self-discovery and mental well-being. Together we will explore:

Increased Understanding: Help parents understand LGBTQ+ identities from a human and spiritual lens and clarify terminology related to the LGBTQ+ community.
Identify and Navigate Through Emotions Related to Child’s Disclosure: Identify and name complex emotions and normalize the parents’ reactions.
Promote Positive Reactions: Provide strategies for parents to respond with
compassion, love, grace, and knowledge as their children engage in navigating sexual orientation.
Strengthen Family Bonds: Teach parents how to build stronger, more affirming relationships with their child through effective communication and quality time.
Address Internal Conflicts: Offer tools to navigate personal, cultural, or religious beliefs while maintaining an open heart.
Identifying Boundaries: Support parents in exploring and clarifying their personal boundaries while fostering a respectful and supportive relationship with their child. This will be done through compassionate dialogue and guided self-reflection.
Highlight the Impact of Acceptance: Emphasize the positive mental, emotional, and physical well-being as outcomes of acceptance and avoid rejection.
Supporting Does Not Mean Agreeing: Explore the difference between supporting and agreeing.
By the end of the class, parents will leave with a clearer understanding of their child’s identity, a deeper appreciation for the importance of acceptance, and practical tools to ensure their child feels loved and supported.
Let this be a journey of healing, understanding, and faith-filled love.
